Inspiron 5593, auto-scroll, auto-typing, black screen

Hi everyone,

I am using this laptop for about 2 months (with Windows 10 installed), and I've noticed that I'm facing some very strange issues.

The first issue is related to a black screen that appears from time to time, all of a sudden.

Second, sometimes it starts to scroll all over the pages on my desktop: for example, I'm trying to click on Refresh on my desktop and I cannot because of that auto-scroll. This auto-scroll can start also when I'm using Slack, for example, scrolling up and down into my conversations.

Also, sometimes it starts to type the same letter in the Windows Start search bar or on other apps that I'm using: ''bbbbbbbbb''.

And another issue is related to the fact that sometimes the desktop freezes and I cannot do anything.

Last evening I've tried power off/power on, and on the right-hand corner of the desktop, I've got this: BIOS F12. Now it's working but with this laptop, I'm expecting some other surprises!

Any ideas to overcome all these issues? That's my first experience with DELL and I've used some other laptops until now, without any issues. Thanks! I'd appreciate your help!

Check all the selections in Settings, Ease of Access. That can cause that behavior. If you have changed or updated anything --changed drivers for instance, return to the original drivers.

I would recommend running Dell Diagnostics

F12 at boot up.

Don't know what Slack is; don't use it.

Hey @nyc10036,

Thanks for your answer! I'll give this a try. I used Slack just for giving an example; it's an app where you can communicate with your team.

Hi @Mary G,

Thanks for your response! As far as I know, I haven't changed anything. However, the system itself ran a BIOS update a month ago, although the system says that the last version of BIOS was updated in August. I am not sure if that can cause all these issues or it's about something else.

If you've Dell support assist software installed, Please run a test on the keyboard to check if there is any other key that has an issue.

Also I suggest you to run a EPSA diagnostics to confirm other parts are fine.

To enter diagnostics, Keep tapping F12 on the startup Dell logo that comes as soon you press the power button.

Select "Diagnostics" from the list, Run it completely and let us know if it passes, Else please reply with the Error message and validation code, we shall take it further.

Hi @AdrianG001,

Thank you for helping me out! I've run a keyboard check and it looks fine now. It's not a specific key that starts this auto-typing, I chose ''b'' just for giving you guys an example. I've also run the hardware diagnostics and everything looks fine.
