Inspiron G3 17-3779, Outlook email, WiFi can't send

I have been having a difficult time getting my laptop to send email when connected on WiFi. On wired Ethernet I have no problems. On WiFi I get the message Task 'email- Sending' reported error (0x800CCC0F) : 'The connection to the server was interrupted. If this problem continues, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).' I get this message on every email account I have, and the email just sits in the OutBox.

After many exchanges with Microsoft, using msconfig I have booted initially just with Microsoft programs and then with increasing numbers of programs from other manufacturers. Got it down to Softbyte Network Services by Rivet Networks. Yes, Outlook can send emails if this programs is disabled from starting using msconfig.

Look for advice. And can I just uninstall Rivet networks product from my computer?

TIA,

Ray

Thank you. This solved my problem too.

I have Rivet Dynamic Bandwidth Management and SmartByte Network Service  disabled and YESSS everything worked as designed. Why put Dell not working software on my computer.

Good to see that someone has had the same experience.

Now it would be even better if Dell would step up and do something about it.

Or at least tell us why it's there and can I delete it from my computer. BTW, even thogh disabled at startup, I have seen it running and preventing emails at least once.

Hi RayFortMill,

Thanks for posting.  Apologies that your system is not performing as expected.

Please perform a systems diagnostics by running Dell SupportAssist, make a note of any error messages encountered and post back.  If there are none, then it could indicate a software or driver issue.

Have you tried the latest SmartByte program? It should resolve the issues you've described. Here is a link:  https://dell.to/2UftQ3E

We have confirmed that a large number of these problems are caused by using an outdated version of the Intel Wi-Fi driver. You can update your Intel Wi-Fi drivers to the latest version available by downloading and installing the appropriate package from Dell here – https://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=vg6m5.

If that doesn't solve the issue for you, updating SmartByte from this location - https://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/rc974514/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=mmvk6 - may help.

If you have any other issues with SmartByte, please tell us about it by submitting a ticket here - http://support.rivetnetworks.com/submit-a-ticket/

Had problem with Outlook 2016 where it would not send emails - just locked every time.  Removed Smartbyte, added new drivers as suggested but to no avail.  Finally cured it by removing the Addin relating to Linkedin.  Worth a try because it only takes seconds.

I cancelled the charter email account and reloaded it.  This may have been a charter email problem
