Inspiron hinge broken
Just in case anyone thinks this issue has gone away, the hinge on my Inspiron 3520 laptop broke last week when I opened it. Popping sound, then pieces of plastic came out. I have never dropped or mishandled the laptop, in fact hardly moved it. It sits on my desk, I open and close it maybe twice a day, until last week that is. Now I can't close it. I bought it in April 2023, so now out of warranty. Needless to say, if I need to replace this computer, it won't be a Dell.
Has anyone had Dell repair this and how much did that cost?

If you have all the plastic pieces, get some epoxy and glue it back together and hope that the plastic parts hold out better

Unless the screen is broken, the parts should total under $50. Add whatever an hour's labor costs in your location for an estimate of the all in cost.

@ejn63 Screen still works, otherwise I would be really, really upset. I got a local repair estimate of $225.

This is why I suggest DIY with some epoxy
Let the epoxy cure for 24 hours before reattaching the LCD
