Inspiron N5030 touchpad ribbon cable

got loose from motherboard during service

cannot put it back securely

I insert it in the connector slot then push down the tiny retainer tab

but cable is loose and comes right out w slight pull

I also do not see the blue finger grab tab on the cable.  not sure why.

the other ribbon cable is securely attached to motherboard using same technique.

If the blue pull tab has detached, the cable won't have the necessary thickness to seat tightly in the connector.

I recently worked on an 11-year-old Inspiron. The blue pull tab fell off a ribbon cable when I opened the connector, perhaps due to the adhesive aging and becoming brittle. I used a drop of superglue to fasten the blue pull tab back to the cable, after which the cable held securely in the connector.

If you cannot find the blue pull tab, you will need to find a similar material to fasten to stiffen and thicken the cable to make it suitable for reconnection.

Alternatively, Parts-People has two Palmrest Touchpad Assemblies in stock, which would include the cable. You'd have to enter your service tag to see which one fits your laptop. You could also email them to see if you can buy just the cable.
