keys 1qaz stopped working

Question

Hi, the keys 1qaz of my Inspiron 7590 stopped working all at once. I tried everything (tutorials, DELL repair tools, re installing the system) but no way to find out solution.

before sending it to repair I am asking support here.

Try a USB external keyboard. If it works fine then you can assume the laptop keyboard is defective. Also run diagnostics, F12 at boot, and watch for errors but more than likely the keyboard will need replacing.

Look at the location of those keys. It's a clue.  1, Q, A, Z    Keyboard needs to be replaced.

Hi, and thanks to ieee 488 and J Ocean who answered me and suggested to replace the key board. So I did it. I went to a computer repair centre and payed 180 euro to replace the keyboard. The new one seemed to work but after a week it started again with the same problem! Keys 1,Q,A,Z and ALT stopped working. Now, I feel quite frustrated and not sure how move forward, except for giving back the laptop to the repair centre. To note, I am using a USB external keyboard that work fine. Now, I am asking if someone could suggest me a clue to let the repair operator understand this issue and fix it. Thanks for your support.

Unfortunately, many posts of 1qaz keyboard problem are marked "solved" although the problem has not been solved.

You will be very happy after reading this post cos this is the real solution of the keyboard problem.

Hi, I've had almost identical issues with my Dell Inspiron.
The space, B, N and M keys became very unresponsive then stopped working completely. Again they are all in the same vicinity but at the bottom instead of the side.

I had the keyboard replaced; 3 weeks later same problem.
Replaced again, a month later same problem.
I used an external keyboard for a while but then got the keyboard replaced a 3rd time.
Guess what. 5--6 weeks later the same.
Took it to a different repair shop and they said they fixed the connectors but 3 weeks later the problem is back.

I have spent around $500 already. I have now bought a new laptop of a different brand, but i would like to get this one fixed properly so my son can use it.
Did you ever get a solution that worked?

I sent my laptop to a computer repair shop and they replaced my keyboard for 180 euro. Initially, the issue seemed to be solved but after a week it did it again. So, I came back to the same shop and the technician told me that could be something related to the motherboard. Finally, they manage to repair my laptop by intervening on the motherboard. I don't know what they did and how they fix it, but so far it works properly. They did not ask me for more money to pay.

@AdrianG001​ That's a very good video, showing all the different things that could be causing the problem, which may be different for different people. I've got 1QAZ sometimes not working, and sometimes working perfectly. And sometimes just AZ not working. Complicated, and I will take things apart to see if I can fix it.
