Keys with 2 characters are upside down
I have a G16 7630, and every key with 2 characters are in reverse order. In other words, 4 is above $ and = is above +. I've had many keyboards since I began using a manual typewriter years and years ago, and not one had this silly configuration. It isn't a horrible inconvenience for ordinary use, but when typing passwords and the site doesn't let you see your input, it's a real pain. I need to type it into notepad then paste it into the password field.
I don't understand why anyone thought this would be a good idea, but regardless, my question is whether Dell has replacement keys that are user installable?
Thanks for any help.

No, and even installing replacement keys won't change the key assignment at the controller level. If you're not happy with the keyboard, return the system for a refund and order a more suitable model system -- or use an external keyboard.

@ejn63 Thank you for the quick reply.
About the key replacements, I don't think what I want would change anything at the controller level. As is, one of the keys has the character "$" placed below the "4". All I'm looking for is a key that is found on every ordinary keyboard: the 4 is printed below the $. (The same for all of the keys with 2 characters on my keyboard).

It's not possible to alter the built-in keyboard -- it's either use an external keyboard set up the way you want, or choose a different model notebook with your required keyboard layout.

Did you check your function lock? Look in the BIOS.
Example. We can press F7 to brighten the screen and F1 to mute, but we can set it so that Fn+F7 brightens the screen and Fn+F1 mutes.
