There are multiple levels of gaming.  For casual to moderate gaming, that hardware will do fine.

For demanding games, particularly if you're looking to support high level video effects, you won't be happy with the system.

some general guidelines on what to look for when choosing a laptop suitable for gaming:

  1. Graphics Card (GPU): A dedicated graphics card is crucial for gaming. Look for laptops with GPUs from reputable brands like NVIDIA or AMD. For modern gaming, a mid-range to high-end GPU will provide better performance.

  2. Processor (CPU): A strong CPU is important for gaming as well. Look for at least a mid-range Intel Core i5 or AMD Ryzen 5 processor. A higher-end CPU can help prevent bottlenecks and improve overall gaming performance.

  3. RAM: Aim for at least 8GB of RAM, but 16GB is recommended for smoother multitasking and better gaming performance.

  4. Storage: A combination of SSD (Solid State Drive) for faster loading times and an HDD (Hard Disk Drive) for additional storage is ideal. An SSD is particularly important for quick game loading.

  5. "margin: 0;">Cooling: Gaming laptops tend to generate a lot of heat. Good cooling solutions, such as multiple fans and heat pipes, are essential to prevent overheating and maintain optimal performance.

  6. Ports: Make sure the laptop has enough USB ports, including USB-C, for peripherals like gaming mice, keyboards, and external storage.

  7. Build Quality: Gaming laptops can be bulky, but a sturdy build quality is important for durability. Check for build materials and keyboard quality as well.

  8. Battery Life: Gaming laptops typically have shorter battery lives due to their high-performance components. Look for a laptop with decent battery life if you plan to use it for tasks other than gaming.

  9. Brand Reputation: Choose laptops from reputable brands known for their gaming offerings. Brands like ASUS ROG, MSI, Acer Predator, and Dell Alienware are well-regarded.

  10. Price: Gaming laptops can range in price significantly. Determine your budget and try to balance performance and features within that range.
