Mic Issues

My Dell Inspiron 7353 2-in-1 has 1 audio jack located on the side. It has a picture of a headset next to it so I believe it's a TRRS type jack. Whenever I connect headphones(with a mic) to the audio jack, my computer picks up the mic but doesn't use it. Whenever I'm on a call with another person they can hear me fine with the mic set to "Internal Microphone (Conexant SmartAudio HD)". But whenever I switch to "External Microphone (Conexant SmartAudio HD)" (this is my headphone mic) the other end can't hear me at all. I used the same headphones on my other computer and my PS4 and the mic on my headphones worked fine. Please help me solve this issue with my mic. Thanks!

Not sure.  Perhaps its a spam Bot testing security.

Ever since I found the TRRS to USB dongle and Tried with my Bose Quiet Comfort I assumed it was done.

Works with Windows, MacOS, Ubuntu, Raspberry PI 400, etc.

Plug in and it works. Driverless nothing to download. Does not even need a reboot.

The USB device in my last post works fine. Immediately,

No drivers to install.  I am using Bose Quiet comfort headset. If the Green LED on the headset isnt on and wont come on it means battery is dead and or battery compartment needs to be cleaned due to acid build up inside.

Works with Linux, Windows, Macos, PS4 etc.

I've asked my fellow "Rockstars" for help.  Hopefully we'll get it sorted out.

@Gveshs  This PC model has been around since ~2015, so are you sure it a TRRS port and not a TRS port?

Do you need an adapter, TRRS(female) > TRS(male)...??

Or maybe a TRRS(female) > USB(male)...???

Just some suggestions...

Which exact model Headset do you have?

One way around the Feature update borking that Microsoft does is to use USB Audio with Red/Green splitter to TRRS

You plug it in and select usb audio and it just works.

No matter how many times microsoft breaks windows audio.  No detecting other than hot plugging usb. No drivers standard USB audio. Works Windows, Linux, Macos etc.

He's using an older Bose combo headset   HERE

Looks to be about the same age as the Laptop.

Dell documentation says the port is for "Headphone, Mic or combo" so I assume its TRRS.

I still wonder about the TRRS mic wiring and what the PC's configuration is and if its compatible with the Bose headset TRRS mic wiring.

Make sure your bose quiet comfort battery compartment is not corroded with acid.

Use a new battery and when you flip the switch you should see a green LED.

Use this and plug into PC and use USB audio for mic and speakers.

Works fine with Zoom, Skype, Teams, etc.

No drivers plug and play USB Audio 1.0

Windows, MAC, Linux, PS4 just works.

PS3 doesnt use USB audio so that is not an option.

1. Check whether the sound card driver has any problems and whether it is up to date.

2. Insert the headset-find the small speaker in the lower right corner-open the sound settings, select the output device-modify the output device, and select the Bluetooth headset.

I apologize for the inactivity. I'm ready to answer any questions you guys may have. I'm pretty sure my computer is TRRS. One reason is because it detects my external mic. Another reason is because it has a picture of a Headset (icon posted below) next to the audio jack.
