Power icon missing from Windows 10
My Inspiron 5570 has had no power icon in the taskbar for at least a week. Prior to that, it was there. Also, when I unplug my laptop, the screen does not automatically dim, so there may be more going on than a missing icon. When I go to Settings / System / Battery, it shows my battery at 62%.
I right-clicked on the taskbar, chose Taskbar setting / Select which icons appear on the taskbar and the Power icon was on. How can I solve this? Windows 10 Home 1903.

The taskbar icons are mostly hidden. Only a couple or 3 actually show. Did you expand the list by clicking the up arrow to see the hidden icons?
Check for other settings in Power Options, Additional Settings, change your Power Plan. Right click on the start button to get to Power Options quickly.

I expanded the list by clicking the up arrow--there was no power icon, only icons for programs that I know. I opened power options and went to Change advanced power settings. I looked through everything that might possibly be related, but found nothing amiss. I went back to taskbar settings and clicked Turn system icons on or off--Power was on, but grayed out (don't know if this means anything). I then clicked Select which icons appear on the taskbar--the power icon is turned on. See below.

Coffee Guy 270222 Turn system icons on,off--Pwr on, but grayed out
Dear Coffee Guy, I can't believe the battery icon was turned off on my system, but it was. Whoever was responsible for that needs his head examined. Thanks for helping me out with your suggestion. It worked. The problem NEVER SHOULD HAVE HAPPENED. JC

Select Start > Settings > Personalization > Taskbar, and then scroll down to the notification area. Choose Select which icons appear on the taskbar, and then turn on the Power toggle.

Dear AdrianG001, I tried what you recommended. The Power Icon was already switched on, but still doesn't appear on the screen. After I restarted the computer the icon came back. What is causing this switching on/off of the icon? JC
