Most likely the battery is dead -- remove the base cover and disconnect it from the mainboard. If that amber LED goes away, the battery needs to be replaced.
Replacement battery should come from Dell or a trusted Dell parts supplier. Beware of batteries sold by private sellers on marketplaces--many scams online with Dell batteries. If you cannot find a genuine Dell battery from a trusted source, always use the adapter and shutdown properly before unplugging the adapter. You'll be using the laptop as a desktop replacement.
