Reinstall Windows11
Im trying to reinstall windows after using linux for 2 months.
I used F12 to boot into a ventoy usb that contains a windows iso.
Secure boot is off. Linux still boot like normal.
Thanks

Hi
No you don't.
There are other options.
A blank usb and the dd command etc etc.

@ann_droid can you be more clear?
How's the dd command different from balena etcher or the media creation tool from KDE plasma?
I used some program that can etch the iso onto a usb and all of them lead to screen saying that there isn't a boot table. Ventoy doesn't lead me to that screen but this instead.
I can install different Linux distros just fine, only windows is acting weird

Hi
Secure Boot for w11 is usually wanted.
As is the EFI/GPT requirement.
So are you using a Legacy MBR?
Perhaps ask here...

with a lot more details than you are giving here.
I wish you luck.

@ann_droid secure boot has to be disabled to install any OS.

@khai1705
That is true only if the OS in question doesn't support it. Is your intention to wipe the drive and install only Windows, or a you trying to run Windows alongside Linux in a multiboot configuration?
If you have a version of Linux that isn't fully UEFI and secure boot compliant, you will have limitations on how you install Windows 11.

No NVMe drive is needed by Windows, but if the system is running in IRST (RAID ON mode, Dell default), you will need that driver.

@ejn63 im trying to load this: https://drivers.amd.com/drivers/amd_raid_software_2.20.19.037.exe
Some people told me that windows isn't detecting my ssd/nvme because of missing driver.
My Dell laptop has r7 8840hs

You keep evading direct answers.
1. What Dell model (Inspiron 5593, 5301, etc)? The CPU model you provided matters less than the system model.
2. Are ;you replacing Linux or installing Windows alongside it?
3. Is the drive in IRST mode now, or AHCI (RAID OFF)? F2 at powerup to check.

That changes things quite a bit.
Make a Windows install flash drive using the MS Media creation tool (NOT Rufus, etc.).
Connect the drive and power up. Press F12 and boot the system from the flash drive.
You will need to drop to diskpart to remove all the existing partitions on the drive. Then restart and let Windows 11 set up a default partition scheme.
Windows will not be able to read the Linux partitions on the drive -- you must remove them before continuing the installation.
