The USB ports are part of the motherboard. It would require a new motherboard as parts such as the USB ports are not available from Dell. This page at the Parts-People site has those MBs.

I'll break into it and check it out...its the side with the 2 USB and 1 HDMI.

I've been into it before to replace the 12v port, so getting into it is no biggie...

After looking at the MB I realized you wanted the LH side of the system. I believe the USB port on that side is part of the IO board and is separate from the MB. Remove the case cover and have a look as it appears to plug into the MB. This YouTube video may help.

The instructions on the Dell support page here are less involved then the video.

Sorry for the confusion.

If that's the case then those would be on the MB. Now I really am showing my age. Maybe too much turkey dinner from Christmas.

Unless the extended warranty was purchased that laptop is over 1 year old and out of warranty. Even under warranty taking the back cover off to do things like upgrade RAM or a drive will not void the warranty. The only way the warranty would be voided would be if, during any procedure as I mentioned, the user damaged a component. In addition to that @jwclteer already stated that the DC Jack was user replaced.

I’ve had the laptop for several years now and have opened it several times to replace the 12v Jack and another time to add more memory.

If I replace the MB with another with an upgraded processor, will my original harddrive and Ram work...this is the one I am looking at.
