Hello,

I can't seem to edit my original post. I mistakenly wrote 7 partitions, should have been 5. I've included a screenshot from disk mgmt.

Naturally I'll select the OS and partition 1 (EFI). Just not sure which recovery partition to select.

Definitely use Samsung Data Migration @

If you want to use newer version of Acronis TrueImage that will work as well, but you need at least the UEFI and data partition. Just avoid old tools because they may not be block size aware.

@Lylej

When in doubt clone everything.

Thanks for the input! I'll just use the Samsung software and clone the OS and EFI partitions. I'm not going to worry about the recovery partitions. I already have a recovery thumb drive if needed.

I just found it odd that the migration software would only clone 3 partitions

What you're probably seeing is:

Data partition
Windows Recovery partition
Dell Recovery partition
Dell Hardware Diagnostics partition
UEFI FAT32 100MB partition

Hello,

Just wanted to post an update. All went well. My pessimistic side wasn't expecting it to go so smooth. Cloned and swapped drives in less than two hours. First time using SSD. What a difference!

Migration software only offered to copy the C:(OS) partition. It automatically copied the EFI data. Eventually I guess I'll get a caddy and use the old drive for backups

Thanks again!
