screen color distortion
Dell Inspiron 14z 5423
The screen image will look normal but if I move it forward or back the colors distort.
Any idea what's going on?

That sounds like a bad connection somewhere in the cable going between the motherboard and the LCD panel. It can be a broken wire in the harness or a loose/dirty plug that connects to the motherboard or LCD panel. In some cases, the problem may exist in the LCD panel itself, which would need to be replaced.

Another piece of info. I did a test where you power off and then power on while holding the D key. It cycled through the colors without any distortion as I wiggled the screen. Does that change the diagnosis?

More Info. I left the laptop off for several days. Turned it on.( Laptop cool.) No problem.
Wiggle the screen back and forth. No color distortion. So, not cable ??
What do you think that means?
