I am wondering if, since your system is not supported by Windows 11, there is no correct driver loaded in the system. Remember that the card works fine in the Windows 10 system but not in the Windows 11 unsupported system.
Try another known working card -- if it too isn't detected, be sure the system has a driver installed for the SD card reader (check in the device manager). If it does not, install the correct driver.
If the driver is installed, but multiple cards don't work, the reader is probably faulty.

What is the exact model number of the system that has the problem or is it also a 5423?

They are both 5423. The one with the problem has windows 11 the other is windows 10.
I tried another working card still no joy. I looked in the Device Manager, can't find it.
In the computer that works if I put an SD card in, the drive shows up in Disk Drives but only if there is a SD card inserted.
So with out being able to see the drive listed I don't know how to check for the drive or add a new one.

I received an email from Dell forums asking if my issue was resolved. Sorry to say it has not.

That sounds like a reasonable answer. Thank you.
