Updating CPU

Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6200U CPU @ 2.30GHz   2.40 GHz

I need to update (replace?) the above CPU in my Inspiron 5759 laptop with one that is compatible with Windows 11 Home version 23H2.

Is that possible? If so, how do I do that? Is the motherboard replaceable with one that has a compatible CPU?

Thank you for any advice or suggestions.

Unfortunately, Inspiron 5759 can support 6th gen processors only.  Microsoft requires minimum of 8th gen processors for officially Windows 11 support.

Most if not all Dell systems have propriety build and can not be upgraded with different motherboards to accommodate newer processors.

You still can install Windows 11 to your 5759, just search for how to install Win 11 on unsupported hardware.

Yes, I looked into the bypass CPU install option but decided not to go that route because of the warnings about not receiving future updates for unsupported systems and so forth.

But I appreciate receiving your response. Thank you.

When October comes, Microsoft will provide security update to Windows 10 for an annual fee.  See info here  https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/whats-new/extended-security-updates

But note that the plans include this option for only one year.

I considered the option of going back to (reinstalling?) Windows 10, but that would only get me another 9 months of free service after which I would have to pay for the extended service. Eventually I would have to modernize and get the hardware that supports the latest version of Windows. So, I'll look around for a new laptop with Windows 11 already installed.

Thanks Chino de Oro and ejn63 for your responses.
