Wake 3500 with touch pad
Does anyone know how to wake the Inspiron 3500 from sleep mode with the touch pad?
I can wake it with the keyboard and mouse, but the touch pad won't wake it.
The properties for the touch pad doesn't have the power configuration tab.

The touchpad normally becomes active after the computer wakes, is what my internet search offers, along with this....
If you want touchpad/keyboard wake
On AC power, check the BIOS:
Shut down or restart the Inspiron.
Repeatedly press F2 at the Dell logo.
Open Power Management.
Enable USB Wake Support, if the option is present.
Save and exit.
Dell notes that USB wake support may only work while the AC adapter is connected; it may be disabled on battery to save power.
If the machine wakes but the touchpad remains dead, update the BIOS and the Dell touchpad/chipset drivers using your exact Service Tag.

I already made that change to my BIOS so that the keyboard and mouse would wake the computer. It's just the touch pad that doesn't wake it. I did a lot of Googling and it seems that that is the way the 3000 is designed... there is no way to have the touch pad wake it up. I was just hoping that was wrong, and someone figured it out. Guess not 😞

Are all drivers up to date?
Drivers are software that allow Windows to communicate with your hardware.

You can download them manually here. If you can't find a driver, then unfortunately you won't be able to.
Additionally, your system doesn't have Windows XP optimized drivers either, which may conflict with things depending on your Operating System.
