The system was most likely activated with a Microsoft account -- if so, log in and change the password there.

If that fails, or the account is local only and you've exhausted all the options, reload Windows.

Hi johnpease! Nowadays most Windows 11 computers use UEFI firmware and you have to format your USB drive with FAT32 & GPT partition scheme. You can use Rufus to burn your Windows 11 ISO image to your USB drive and then follow this method to reset your password:

For these people who has created a reset disk for forgotten password , they can directly use the created password reset disk to recover forgot password on Windwod 11,

Furthermore , for those people who didn't created , you can consider these way to reset your Windwos password , such as the Super Admin Account , Microsoft Acount , NT password reset , CMD ,,,,

Maybe the CMD can help you to set a new login password on Windows 11 ,

@William Bussey Changing the password in such a manner should be done with extreme caution! With Windows 11 and Microsoft's recent attempts at enforcing drive encryption, force changing a password without providing the original credentials will invalidate the encryption key, which in turn will result in loss of access to all personal files on the computer (done as a security measure). Only do this if you know that drive encryption and/or Bitlocker are disabled.
