Windows won't restart network adapter
I have Dell Inspiron 15 5000 2-in-1 laptop running windows 10. Windows stopped my network adapter and won't restart it.
- Intel Wireless-AC 9560
- I cannot upgrade to windows 11 because I have expensive software on my computer that is not compatible with windows 11.
- all windows updates are up to date
- the power management tab is missing from the adapter' s device properties.
-:the device properties says the device driver is up to date.
- I have tried running the steps recommended by the troubleshooter, uninstalling and reinstalling the adapter and restarting thecomputer.
- The device properties first said there is a problem...(code 34), and now says windows cannot restart the device (code 10).
- computer is only a couple years old and has not been dropped, gotten wet, exposed to extreme heat, or otherwise damaged, so there is no reason for there to be anything wrong with the adapter itself.
This is obviously a windows software issue. I need to be able to connect to my wifi to do work for my organization, etc. How do I get Windows to restart the network adapter?

This Windows forum page may help. Basically code 10 means that there is software in Windows that is not compatible with the hardware, in this case your network adapter, or the hardware drivers. I would also suggest running diagnostics, F12 at boot, to make sure that the adapter is not having problems. Also try reseating the adapter as that may help. And though the adapter has not been subject to other issues such as heat, wet, etc. that does not mean there is nothing wrong with it. Electronic parts can fail for no obvious reason sometimes.

Windows says code 10 means there is incompatible software installed. I haven't installed any new software since everything was working last night. They said to reset the bios to default settings, but that didn't help. I am not qualified to do any type of hardware repairs. What else can I try?

Have you tried to click on the link I posted as I believe they have a number of suggestions aside from resetting the BIOS?

Microsoft suggested uninstalling and deleting the device driver and reinstalling it. That seems to have solved the problem.
