1/10G networks
Hi guys-is it possible to have 1G and 10G interfaces on different networks for Isilon. Idea is to use 1G (ext-1 & ext-2) ports for management and 10G ports for data. I know you can separate them using pools. But do they have to be on the same network or using different networks for 1 and 10G will work? Please let me know your thoughts.
Thanks

Using different networks is actually very good practise when
using 1G and 10G on the same cluster! Otherwise outgoing
traffic intended for 10G might leave through 1G...

They need to be in separate pools, but they can be in the same subnet and you can use both types of interface on the same node.

Hello,
You questions has answer as well.
You have choice of creating 2 subnet and 2 pools.
If you are going with 2 pools then it will be same subnet
Else you can create 2 different subnet and create a pool under each subnet.
Thanks

One item people haven't addressed yet is to make sure that the default gateway priority settings are set correctly. I assume that you want most of your data to actually go out the 10g interfaces so set that gateway to have the highest priority (priority 1).

don't forget SmartConnect licensing, if my memory service me well, basic SmartConnect does not allow multiple IP pools in one subnet.
