you should not mix 1G and 10G Interfaces in a pool.
The 1G Interface usage for management purposes is the right way to use them. another alternative is to use them for pools with small/ unintensive workloads.
Depending on you paranoia level and your environment you could even use both 1G in an active /passive config for management access.
Beside the other answers consider using Access Zones for separating user access and management access. SSH and Access to the webUI is only possible through the System zone.
