Configuring A100s - Backups?
Hello,
We have 3 backup accelerators and I'm planning to configure them following way. Please point me in right direction if I am not correct.
1)Zoning the A100s with FC switches
2)Form a new static pool with A100s
3)Inform the backup team to use the newly created static pool only
In existing scenario, backup team is using general purposed smartconnect zone for backups along with clients pool and they informed us that their application is 3 way NDMP. Is it good idea to configure the A100s in a new static pool or join them in the same pool which is dedicated for clients?
Thanks

3 way NDMP is network based, not FC based. You would need to sort this out first.
If your tape drives are attached to the backup accelerators via FC
you are doing 2 way NDMP, and your accelerators have to use static IP
addresses in addition to the FC connections. See
https://support.emc.com/docu56055_OneFS-7.2.0-Backup-and-Recovery-Guide.pdf?language=en_US
If your backup team only offers 3 way NDMP, static address are recommended, and regular storage
nodes can be used. (A100 backup accelerators would be wasted here).

Got it Peter, thanks. I need to figure out whether our backup team offers 2 way NDMP.
