minor version upgrade ....

Hi there ,,

I found https://support.emc.com/docu44518_Isilon-Supportability-and-Compatibility-Guide.pdf?language=en_US

and 6.0 can be upgrade to 6.5 /7.0 in Page5 simultaneous upgrade Option.

But found https://support.emc.com/docu54666_OneFS-7.0.2.10-MR-Release-Notes.pdf?language=en_US

Page3 ,Simultaneous upgrades to OneFS 7.0.2.10 are supported from the following OneFS

--> OneFS 6.0 - OneFS 6.0.5

The version my customer is on is 6.0.5.3.... should we consider minor version for upgrade compach?

Basically .. can we upgrade 6.0.5.3--> 7.0 ?

Hi Aya,

OneFS 6.0.5  release notes page 8 mention IOS 6.0.5.3 image is the only OneFS installation image which can be download in the FTP server for OneFS 6.0.5 version. Meanwhile, Isilon OneFS 7.0.2.10 MR Release Notes page 3 say that simultaneous upgrade are supported from OneFS 6.0.5 to OneFS 7.0.2.10. So I think 6.0.5.3 is supported to upgrade to 7.0.2.10.

hello

thanks for the update !

the thing is that Release note does not mention about 6.0.5.3. But 6.0.5 is OK to upgrade to 7.0.2.10..

So should I say 6.0.5.3 is OK to upgrade ? ( release note does not say 6.x.x.3 bit .. )

thanks

aya

Hello Ayas,

You should refer to upgrade readiness guide because many features have changed from onefs 6.x.x. to onefs 7.x.x. for eg legacy LDAP is not supported + mix n match pools.

Also refer to release notes which clearly says how to proceed with upgrade and supported

Hello Ayas,

Those notes technically should say 6.0.5.x so yes your version is supported for a simultanious upgrade to 7.0.2.10 as per the release notes but please refer to chughh's warning above for the changes between OneFS versions. A second warning would be to double check the hardware for compatibility as I know 6.0.5.3 was the cut off for many legacy node types. You have two of the documents I would refer you to but would also include the upgrade planning and process guide.
