Hi,

just login to each Node via serial connection and execute "isi_reformat_node" at the command line.

Through the reformat process all disks are re-formatted and the configuration will be reset to its factory default values. You will get an empty and unconfigured node to built up a new cluster.

Be aware of course this doesn't just reset a 'configuration'.  It'll do what the name applies and delete all the data also.  So use with care.  An alternative approach is that you can download a special version of OneFS (on the support page), which you can use to build a special USB key to reformat the node.  (if you also need to do a OneFS upgrade, this could save you some time).

Hi all,

Thank you for the information ,after executing  isi_reformat_node I will loose the disque partitioning ?

My object is to have a raw cluster and then I will install OneFS V7 and then upgraded to V8.0.4 and configured as my requirement .

Kindly advice me how to perform it properly and is there a document that can I follow to perform it .

Thanks

The command "isi_reformat_node" formats all hard drive disks and returns the node to the factory state. You will get a status as if it were a newly delivered node that is turned one first time. You will see the "Create a Cluster wizard" when you connect via serial cable (nothing else is possible because the old configuration containing your network configuration is gone) and you have to build the cluster new from scratch. The OneFS is the one that have been installed last. For example. If your Nodes are running 7.2.1.0 and you do a "isi_reformat_node" than the resetted Node will have the same OneFS version.

What you do after successfully created the new initial configuration of your cluster depends on your needs. Of course you can upgrade firmware, upgrade OneFS, installing patches - whatever you need.

Do you know how to reset the bmc? I logged in after doing the factory reset and the bmc user are still there. I have an Isilon A200

Hi,

Thanks for your question. It is recommended that you call phone support to do the reset in case it causes other issues. Which OneFS version are you on?

Yes, that should be enough.

Thanks you for your reply. I am on OneFS_v9.2.1.12_Reimage_Bundle_2022-05. I'm not worried about causing other issues since I'm removing all data from the unit. The ipmitool raw commands resets the bmc on some equipment but no such luck on this one. I did find a way to delete all users. I think that should clear out all info on the BMC. I will have to check logs i'm sure.
