x200 to X210 interface issue ...
Hi there ....
Does anybody have good Idea for this issue ?
1. Using X200 at this point and use 3 interfases for User access /SynqIQ /management ( All 1G )
2 .Desided to use X210 , but this model does not allow to add interface apart from 2x1G and 2X10G
What will be the best solution to this customer ... Can this customer use 10G interfase as 1G by using 10G copper ?
thanks!
Aya

ayas,
as far as i know you are unable to do 1G over a 10G Interface. So there are two possibilities
1) Use the new X210 as a passive node without Network Connection.
2) use the 10G Interfaces for User Access and SyncIQ and a 1G Interface for Management.
otherwise: shop some X200 as long as there are some left

A few customers have put 10Gb->1Gb transceivers on the 10Gb ports to run them at 1Gb. EMC does not provide them and, therefore, cannot support them if they go bad, but they do work. Just keep in mind that if you engage support on a problem on that port, you will need to remove it to do any troubleshooting since it's not officially blessed by EMC.
This should not be construed as a recommendation from EMC, just a data point that a handful of customers have done understanding the caveats.
