65W-AC Adapter breaks all the time.

My Inspiron 1501 is not quite 3 years old. Monday the 10th I got my THIRD BRAND NEW adapter. Today it has already stopped working. All three cords have broken the same way. My laptop will be plugged into the wall, but the computer doesn't read it and eventually dies. I have read multiple reviews on this product and come to find that several others are experiencing this same problem. I have also read that only Dell adapters are compatible with Dell batteries, thus leaving this cord as my only option. Is there anything I can do besides throwing away 60 bucks everytime it breaks? I am not at all hard on it. I do use it a lot, but ever since the first cord broke I have been very careful with it.
