Avocent 8-port KVM switch: www interface login problem...

​ I'm setting up one of the 8-port Avocent KVM switches that includes a 10/100 ethernet interface. I've been in thru the Setup interface & assigned an IP & associated info. The KVM switch can ping my laptop, and vice-versa, so my phy. connectivity is OK. ​

​ I can even bring up the web interface to the point where it prmopts me for credentials. The docs say that I should supply "admin" as the username and a blank password. I do this, and no-dice, I can't log in. From here, I reset the device to out-of-the-box, and went thru the whole thing again w/o any different result. ​

​ question: What am I doing wrong? "admin" and blank password won't get me into the web interface; the device is useless this way! ​
