Beeping Windows start-up and erratic mouse movement!

I was just dusting off my Inspiron 1720 while Windows Vista Home Basic was starting up and I accidently pressed the Dell Media Direct button and my laptop started beeping really loudly. Then it brought up a screen, prompting me to choose which Windows version to start. When Vista finally loaded, my mouse movement was very erratic- as if someone was going down the list of programs on the desktop and on the menu.

I restarted my laptop but it did the exact same thing. As soon as I unplugged my mouse, it worked fine.

I've never had a problem with my mouse before so I'm sure the mouse isn't the problem.

I'd really appreciate a response on this. Thanks.

Check your mouse for dirt on the lens. Otherwise, try plugging in a different mouse. (make sure it is not connected to the keybaord plug, but I gues it's a USB mouse?)

...Well... uh, it seems to be working fine now. I didn't do anything different and my mouse didn't have dust on the lens or anything. Otherwise, I guess it was just a temporary glitch... So, I guess this counts as solved?
