BIOS Setup Not Prompting For Password

Hello,

I recently enabled an administrator password in the BIOS for a Latitude D600. After saving this change I rebooted but am not prompted for a password when I hit the F2 key to get into the BIOS. However, when displaying the Boot Order page, page 2 of 7, right below that title it states 'Configure setup is disabled'.

OK, what do I have to do to get prompted for a password when entering the BIOS? Do I need to enable more than just the Admin password setting? I'm NOT asking for a password hack, I know what it is. Just wondering how do I get prompted for it so I could make additional changes in the BIOS. Thanks.

Hello,

Go to page 7of7 and change the primary password to enabled .. and of course enter a password you can remember. The administrator password only prevents people from changing the bios, not from seeing it.

After you assign the primary password; hitting F2 will ask for the password.

I hope this helps..

Frank
