C840 No Video

Every so often I get no display after the Windows XP startup splash screen.  The system is there because I can fly blind and restart it.  After restarting several times the system boots normally.  I have the latest BIOS and Video Drivers.

should you sit in the dark next time     ...go out and try the Fn-F8 key-combo several times and very slowly one time after another.   See what happenes each time.        Could be you're having some trouble with existent profiles.         Do you happen to run the C840 in a C-Dock II ??      I run my C840 with an external  TFT screen on  my C/Dock II OR alternately the notebook alone.   Since then, I can't predict, which screen comes on and which one not, while docked.              The C840 BIOS, Win XP-Pro, the N-Vidia Software and NECs add-on Screen-Select-Software,  they all take influence on that issue.            I'm prepared to set up the screen config every time I boot in the dock using the Nvidia Desktop tool.

Have fun,       flortep
