Can I disable my computer's Track Point?

My track point is extremely obnoxious; my biggest problem with it is that as I'm typing my fingers will brush against it and it will click outside the window or further up in a paragraph I'm typing and I have to reclick where I was before. I've looked everywhere online and I can't find anything short of physically cutting the wire leading to the track point, and I'd rather just disable something in my hardware. Thanks!

Have you tried having a look in the BIOS? When the laptop boots enter the BIOS (usually DEL or F2) and check to see if you can disable the track point.

You can disable the pointing device by opening up the dell touchpad utility and choosing the device select option.
