Choppy sound from 35% + CPU usage

When im doing something on my laptop (M1330), if the CPU goes above approximately 35% the sound gets choppy if im trying to listen to music or watch a video at the same time.  I have never had this happen before with any computer i have owned.

I thought this was the whole point of Duo Core, so that you can multi task.... i checked for updated drivers etc but nothing helps.... Seems like i can only do one thing at a time.....

I must say im kinda dissapointed with my laptop.  And it also has a constant high pitched sound, like the ringing you get in your ears from listening to loud music?? its driving me crazy, today a girl in the library beside me asked me to turn down my laptop from the noise...

Take a look at this thread for some tips about the crackling, Choppy/Skipping Audio Workarounds . Turn of your wireless card first and see if that helps.

Next try changing your computer's power settings. Some settings meant to conserve the battery will choke off the power that the audio system needs when there is a drain on the cpu.

Another related tip that isn't in the thread is that some models (I don't know which ones) have an nVidia graphics chip with a 'Powermizer' feature that can cause the problem. On those models the feature should be disabled if possible.

About the whining noise, that is not a known problem on your model as far as I know. I think you should report it to tech support ... could be a hardware issue. Try running the audio test in Dell Diagnostics and listen for the whine. If you hear it during that test then it is coming from the hardware.
