computer won't start

Hello. I have an Inspiron 600m. For about three months it has had problems starting up. Sometimes it starts right up no problem. Other times, I push the start button and nothing happens at all--no lights, nothing. In the past, when it didn't start I just kept pushing the button and after about ten minutes it started up and worked fine. Today, it's not starting at all. My warranty is up. Please help!
Thanks.

I had the same problem with my Insprion 5000, and sadly you're only options are to reseat (take out and put back in) the ram and CPU, that should fix it (At least for now) There are instructions on how to do this in the support part of dell's site. I managed to get my Inspiron to where it would at least come on every time if you gave it a long enough time to cool down and sometimes it would boot right up even while hot. Also I might add that this Inspiron was dead for about 7 months before I managed to get it up again. (Turned out there was a bent pin on the cpu) But never fixed the problem completly. If you get it to come on, don't turn it off and you shouldn't have a problem.

Very strange. I kept trying to start it. Then after an hour or so, I closed the lid, and when I opened it it started up. Any idea why that would matter?

Could be the start button itself is faulty.
When you get it on, go to Start, control panel, settings and set the behavior of the lid to hibernate. When you are finished working/playing on your computer, leave it plugged in and close the lid.

This really isn't fixing it, it is just getting it turned on and letting it hibernate rather than turn off. It puts off the task of opening it up.
