Dell 5520 on E6500 Win 7

Does anyone know how to install the Dell Wireless Utility for AT&T on a Dell Latitude E6500? I was able to install the 5520 drivers using the method here http://blog.marc-seeger.de/tag/5520/1 but I can't figure out how to get the utility to install. When I try to install it I get a message "Not a dell compatible system" The file I am trying to use for the install is DELL_MULTI-DEVICE_A05_R216783. Thanks in advance.

I have fixed this in two steps. This will also work for other models btw.

1. Download desired drivers that won't install (Not a dell compatible system). Launch installer and wait for error. Don't click ok. Search your computer for the "dell mobile" file that it unpacked and make a copy.

Option A: Get 7Zip (freeware) and unpack the MSI with it. It will contain the drivers you need. You will need to open Device Manager to install them.
Option B: Get Microsoft SDK Orca (google orca.msi). and open the dell mobile....msi installer go to CustomAction and find AbortInstallation. Delete it with right-click. Save. Install. It will still fail but you will have drivers installed.
Found this trick here: en.community.dell.com/.../18049864

2. Use Windows dial-up to connect to your 3G network. The internet is full of how-tos. Google "windows dial-up 3G". One is here: unlock4modem.in/setup-dial-connection-novatel-data-card-windows-vista

Hello.

For those who still looking for firmware update for Novatel Wireless Expedite EU870D, here is the link for original firmware update from manufacturer (it will be available for 30 days without downloads): www.sendspace.com/.../r71i8j

I've received it a several years ago from one of the Novatel's dealers where I've purchased my EU870D.

File name: 20417934_MUU_EU870D_103_7_EMEA_open_sim_v1a.exe

File size: 8977068 bytes.

It's an original file from manufacturer without any modifications. It's for original Novatel Wireless Expedite EU870D and I don't know if it compatible with Dell 5520.

Here you could find the latest drivers and software for Novatel products on one page:
