Use the windows 7 1705 driver for the 5537 series inspiron. Also go to intels website and install their chipset drivers from there. The rest of the drivers can be installed per usual. Link posted above for the 5537 driver. Good luck! Windows 8 sucks!

Hey there.

I bought a Dell Inspiron 3537 laptop two days ago (after having bought and returned a Lenovo laptop whose wireless card couldn't be installed / wouldn't work on w7/w8/ubuntu, after several attempts over the course of five days). I installed all the drivers and as stated before, all but the wireless driver managed to install. I tried doing it manually from Device Manager - Update driver, nothing worked. I tried installing the HP one mentioned in this topic. Did not work.

Then I googled the Hardware ID of the wireless card, and found a website that matched the Hardware ID with a specific Dell driver: DW1901_Atheros_W74_A01_X04_Setup-GKYK9_ZPE.exe

I installed it from here:  http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/driverdetails?driverid=GKYK9 and now my wireless card is working :)   (truth is Windows explorer froze a couple of times at the following restart, but after a couple of restarts it stopped misbehaving).

(i tried this approach as i did not want to dl that 8gb iso with the russian software and the hp-sp58581.exe did not work)

-> W7 SP1 x64

HI Dell.

Same problem here on mine.

Win 7 ultimate 64bit,

I have tried all available solutions on this forum, as well as all available drivers for my service code for both win 7 and 8 driver packages.

The install packages try to run a bluetooth software installer, and this stops at the screen asking to turn on the Bluetooth device, which can't be done without the software. Otherwise the WLAN installation completes and says successful, however, windows cannot see any wireless networks, and will not allow setting up or searching for existing networks, it only says "unexpected error has occurred".

I am at a bit of a dead end and no idea what else to try.

Hardware IDs

PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_0036&SUBSYS_020C1028&REV_01
PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_0036&SUBSYS_020C1028
PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_0036&CC_028000
PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_0036&CC_0280

Please let me know if you need any more info from my pc.

Thanks in advance.

I had the same problem, I installed the Win7 64bit driver for the wireless but the driver didn't seem to pick up the device in the device manager.

I figured out that I needed to first turn the wireless card on, which meant I needed to first install the Dells drivers for the blue "Fn" keys. I think it's the Quickset application.

That instantly allowed windows to recognize the device for the drivers.
