Dell Vostro 3560 backlight failing

Running windows 7, on startup of come out of hibernation, keyboard lights flash, but screen backlight stays off, no info on the screen and single short beep sounds every 2 sec continuously. Hold power switch down for 3 or 4 sec and restart. It usually starts ok 2nd or third time. Can't find the beep code but it sounds like the backlight inverter not firing up? (Out of warranty)

The screen uses LED -- not CCFL - backlight, so there's no inverter.

If it's a single beep it indicates a mainboard problem -- it may not yet be a permanent failure, but the mainboard is on its way out.

Thanks for the led info. It beeps continuously, single beep every couple of seconds, which doesn't feature in the bios beep codes I've found. The only way to stop the beeping is a long press on the on/off button to force a shut down. It may fire up ok the next time, but certainly ok the third time. I've run all the tests on the support page, and once its running they all pass ok. No issues when its running.
