Dell Webcam Central, link, articles, FAQ

The Dell Webcam Central software is not available for Windows 8/8.1/10. Dell Webcam Central is end of life and no longer supported by Dell. Use the Windows operating system native webcam applications such as Skype.

How to Install Skype on your Dell PC

summtag,

Did you recently install/reinstall the operating system? If yes, did you install the Dell System Software(if applicable) and the chipset drivers first? If not, the rest of the drivers will fail to install. How to Download and Install Drivers in the Correct

Windows 7/8 is supposed to provide the webcam drivers for most Dell computers. If you system needs webcam drivers, go to Drivers & Downloads enter your service tag, then select your operating system. If your system needs webcam drivers, they'll be listed under Input.

(Windows 8)How to make the webcam work with help from this youtube. You have to open the Camera app first, and then click Settings on the charm bar to see where you can give the app permission to use the webcam.

Try reading...

Troubleshooting the Dell Webcam and Dell Webcam Central Software

You can try this file, also known as Dell Webcam Central.

Create a new unrestricted user account and try the webcam. Did the webcam work?

If yes, log out and log back in to your account and try the webcam. Did the webcam work?

If no, then the webcam became detached from the motherboard, usually near the webcam

I had the Dell webcam 2.0 resource CD shipped with my Dell Latitude E6540 but it downloaded the update for Dell Webcam Central 2.01.18 that I posted on dropbox. This is the official installer downloaded directly from Creative.

File name: DWSS_V_2_0_PCAPP_WEBUP_6.exe

Thank You For Posting a Link to the Newest Version of Dell Webcam Central v2.01.18 (Customer)

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/19832211/DWSS_V_2_0_PCAPP_WEBUP_6.exe

This Version Includes the webcam effects.. One note if using Windows 8.1 the camera app may not work on older dell pc's because Win8.1 wants to install driver version 1.14

So in order to get the camera app to work - I had to roll back the driver version to 6.3.9600

And then had to block windows from trying to update the driver automatically (control panel - system - advanced system settings - hardware tab - device installation settings) select NO and Never

thank you for the link. Was searching for that!

It's sad that Dell didn't put the link on the website. It's hard to find!

I can't quite understand why Dell has chosen to make it overly difficult to get their integrated webcams working properly.

I did a clean Windows 7 install (on SSD) on a Inspiron One 2330 (All-in-one), and it was extremely difficult to find the sequence of events to get the integrated webcam working properly.

I seriously thought, when Michael returned, he was going to rid the company of it's incompetent leadership.  To make the support of such a small part of the system so difficult is senseless.

However, I still like Dell products and will continue to recommend and purchase them.

If there is anyone @DellCares monitoring, please recommend simple management of the integrated webcams.  ie make all the software easily available.

They want you to pay them to do it for you. That's the goal. Don't do it. It isn't  your fault their website is not user friendly.
