Dell XPS 13 (9350) Screen Flicker

Just received the XPS 13 (9350) last week and I've been having some intermittent black screen flickering that normally occurs in short bursts of 4-5 short black outs within a span of two or three seconds. Tech support updated all the drivers and such, but I'm still experiencing the issues. Has anyone had similar issues and possible solutions?

I looked at previous posts and the screen flickering is not where it actually distorts things on screen, it literally just looks like it flashes on and off. Any help is appreciated!

Hey guys;)

Alright, I solved my problem. I did a clean install of windows 10 and have had no issues since. I also think my XPS runs better now and more stable!

Before, when i put it into sleep mode, it would drain the battery like 50% overnight. That's also solved now.

I keept the drivers from Dell at a minium and only let windows find the drivers it needs to work.

I guess it's always a good idea to do a clean install, to keep the pc clean!

If you do a clean install, the wifi card won't work, so make sure, you can connect to a ethernet or mobilephone via usb, to get a internetconnection, so the pc can find the drivers.

Also, OneDrive didn't work the first hour, then it started syncing.

Hi Guys,

I believe that I may have figured this out as I had the same issue on my XPS 13 9350.

I believe that the problem may relate to bluetooth.

I found that when I switched off the bluetooth, the issue went away.

I hope this helps.

I believe that I may have solved this issue.

Switch off your bluetooth.

Switching off Blu-Tooth may stop the flickering.

But it is not an answer the the problem.

Blu-Tooth is a key consideration when purchasing - turning it off and losing a key component is not a solution. Dell do need to advise of a cure addressing the root cause.

For the record - I have just received my third replacement of the new 9350 due to various faults since Nov 4th.

Dell customer support worked with me on the issues and were brilliant - given that tech support calls are Premium Rate - it did cost £11.00 in calls.

This third one seems to be working as it should after using it for about 4 days. So far no screen flickering - which leads me to believe that if all machines are updated with the same latest software and Drivers - and some do not have any problems - then possibly a hardware issue could be the problem.

Another thought - given that this model was only released in the UK in November - why have those with duff machines - not asked Dell for a replacement - just saying - I am no expert at all - but I think the UK Sale of goods act might be worth viewing. The secret in my view is to start the process immediately - the longer problems are left just makes things more problematic.

But good luck to all those suffering - It is SOOooooo annoying after spending hard earned cash.

Fingers crossed

Perhaps a call to Tech Support under Warranty! - and if the problem can't be sorted - then assert your rights to a replacement. Each machine is supplied with 12 Months Warranty - for the machine to fail with a screen flicker fault immediately - is in my books DOA Dead On Arrival - replacement machine please.........................let me know delivery date.

I installed the latest wifi driver today from Dell and that fixed my screen flickering but I don't understand the connection between the screen and wifi.

gassah's suggestion that I update the wifi driver worked, at least for now. No flickering for the past couple of hours.

Updating the Wi-Fi Network Adapter driver also solved my issue.

I also had the same bad problem with the screen flickering. Updating the WiFi driver solved the problem on my machine too. This is the download link to the WiFi driver:

www.dell.com/.../DriversDetails

The Fix description also talks about somewith this "can not find video device" in combination with WiFi, so I really hope this really bad problem is fixed now.

I still have the problem, what video driver version do you have?

The flickering came back! I had to roll the wireless driver back to the previous version (yes, really - the one that seemingly caused the problem in the first place) for it to stop happening. I am now waiting to come back so that I can update the driver again for it to stop happening again. Driver Inception.

How about a real fix, Dell?

Hi - as you say - a real bummer.

My 3rd machine seems to be behaving - must admit I have not had the guts to connect an external monitor yet.

I can empathise with you.

I wish you well - on your journey and appreciate your updates.
