External display on displayport ist not recognized when booting connected (Intel 4 Graphics, E6500)
Hi,
my external display is plugged via displayport-to-DVI-adapter (generic, not from DELL) and is not recognized when the notebook boots. The only thing that helps is unplug the adapter from notebook AND from DVI-cable and then replug it first to the notebook and then to the DVI cable from the display when the OS is up.
My configuration: DELL Latitude E6500 with Intel 4 Express, Windows XP SP3 (all patches) and latest Intel driver (same problem with erlier drivers). The display is a 24" Samsung SyncMaster 2443BW.
Thank you very much for help!
Ciao!
Marco

Are you sure you have the latest video driver? Dell doesn't always track the latest version available from Intel. Your problem sounds similar to issues that were fixed in build 1688 of the Intel Q45/Q43 driver. Go to the Intel site and check the release notes.

Thank you for your reply!
Yes, I'm sure. The same problem now occurs in Windows 7, no matter if x32/x64. Maybe it's caused by the displayport2DVI adpater.
Ciao!
