flash bios/cmos data for 1100
i had a dell inspiron 1100 with celeron 2.3 b4 and i replace the cpu with a p4m 1.6. testing show it run at 1.2 and it work fine most of the time(crush IE from time to time but mozilla seems ok).
lately i try to install a external security key(usb-like). but it fail with suggestion 'trying with a more stable system). so i put the old celeron 2.3 cpu back but fail to boot with no display at all. but when i put the p4m 1.6 back, it came right up with no problem(bios show p4m 1.2 as cpu).
i was told i need a bootable bios upgrade cd and boot with the cd and then flash the bios/cmos to default or discharge the cmos battery b4 put the celeron cpu back.
any comment are welcome thanks

It sounds like the 2.3 is overheating - be sure the fans and heatsink are clear of dust and that thermal compound is properly applied to the core of the CPU.
