Freezing in IE
Hello,
I have an inspiron 8500 notebook and have owned it for about 10 months. My problem is that it seems to freeze when using internet explorer (version 6). I have just formatted the hard disk and installed a fresh copy of Windows XP Home. I have even downloaded a copy of IE from the Microsoft website and the problem still continues. I connect to the internet using the truemobile 1300 wireless card through a netgear WGR614 wireless router. However even when I connect directly to the cable modem through the LAN port, the problem persists.
Dell have replaced the HDD on this machine twice in order to fix this problem but neither time has been successful. Does anyone know if this could be a problem with another piece of hardware (ie. RAM) or is it more likely to be a software issue (keeping in mind it is a fresh copy of XP, updated BIOS and drivers).
Please note that I am not confident fiddling around inside the computer but have the Complete Care Warranty.
Thanks for your help and any advise would be appreciated.

I would try downloading a different browser www.mozila.org , www.myie2.com . if these work then it is definently a problem with the internet explorer software.

IE should be fine after rebuilding - IF all the service packs and WIndows updates were applied, and if an antivirus and firewall package is installed. If the system has not been patched and is not protected, IE corruption/infection/infestation can happen VERY quickly upon connecting to the Internet.
