If you are trying to add media centre you need the pro version of Windows 8 first so your Windows 8 Core product key won't do.

For more details on RW-Everything see here:

we need the key to "Add Features to Windows"

each time you try to access new features it will prompt you to enter the product key

Furthermore the key is not mentioned inside the battery compartment any longer due to security and counterfeit issues.

Hi manishchand,

The Windows 8 product key will be mentioned at the bottom of the computer or inside the battery compartment. Also let me the reason why you are looking for a product key as Dell laptops come with pre-installed OEM version of Windows 8.

All the keys on the keyboard light up as there are wordings on it but on a spacebar key there is no letters so it doesn’t glow. It is normal on all systems with backlight.

Hello, I have the same problem. I have deleted the boot partition of windows 8 and cannot find the

serial number to download and install the windows again. Inside the battery section I couldn't find

a microsoft label with product key. There is a number written there, but I'm not sure that this is the

product key.

Hi bagrat85,

The product key for Windows 8 operating system is pre-installed in the motherboard for Dell computers. If you have made a copy of Recovery DVD of the Windows 8 from this computer you can use that or you may want to contact Local Dell technical support and request for an OEM DVD or USB drive.  You can use the OEM Operating system and the product key will be automatically recognized by the Windows.

If you have any further questions please reply to the same post.

Hi rushup92,

Dell does not ship operating system DVDs currently. I request you to follow the below steps to copy Operating system on a DVD/USB:

(1) Click on Dell Backup and recovery.

(2) Select recovery media

(3) Click factory backup.

(4) Now select which media you want to copy to either a USB driver or to DVD.

(5) Then insert the media.

(6) Click on continue and in the next screen select start.

(7) Follow the onscreen instructions.

If you have further questions please reply to the same post.

sir,

this wont work as my laptop is already formatted. It was a mistake of my brother. Is there any way in near future Dell will be shipping OEM for windows 8 and they can provide me one??? Cause buying a new installating media is very costly. I will just return the laptop to the company and seek another laptop. What do u suggest???

Hi rushup92,

I request you to send me the system service tag through private message. I will check and let you know what can be done for the same.

I have added you as a friend. Please accept my friend request by clicking on my name highlighted in blue and then click on “Friends” tab at the top and then click on “Request to Review” and finally click on “Accept” button.

I am sending you a private message as well. Click on “Inbox” to respond to the message and provide system’s Service Tag and contact details so I may access your system records and check for further course of action. You could also click on Start Conversation to send a private message.

Hi there,

I've got a similar problem. I've ust bought my Dell 17RSE-3589BK couple of weeks ago. Windows 8 crashed during partitioning. I keep getting error code "0xc0000225 (File:\Windows\system32\windows.efi)" and can't access to Windows. Even running Windows in safe mode doesn't work. I don't have recovery drivers and also product key for win8. I don't know how to proceed; can you help me?
