Inspiron 1000 laptop -- blinking green light on power adapter; no power

We have an Inspiron 1000 laptop that was not plugged into power for many months (less than a year).  We recently plugged it in and found a blinking green light on the power adapter, but no power to the PC--none.  We tried different power outlets, but no change.  When we remove the power adapter from the laptop, the green light goes solid (it starts blinking when we insert power cord into PC).  Even after several days there's no change.  We also tried removing the battery, but still no change.

Any ideas?

Thanks so much.

Remove the battery from the notebook and unplug it.  Hold the power button for 30 seconds.

Open the memory compartment and reseat the memeory module (remove and reinstall).

Then plug the system back in again.  If it still shows the same symptom, the mainboard is faulty - start shopping for a new system.
