Inspiron 11 3162/3164 internet connection keeps failing

This is not a wifi issue, but rather the machine will be connected and able to browse the internet via Chrome or any other web browser and then all of the sudden things freeze up and the cursor will just spin and will have to re-boot the machine to get connected to the internet again (with that sometimes not even fixing).

In every instance the wifi connection is still enabled, but browsing the internet ceases to work.  I recently updated the Intel wifi driver as I thought that would help, but still encountering the issue.  With no Ethernet connection available to test on this machine, need some suggested solutions.

Windows 10 is on the system? You updated Intel wifi driver from either Dell site, device manager or from the Intel site? You getting Internet connection from a wifi router?  Please click on link below:

Yes, Windows 10.

Updated Intel Driver from Intel site(Intel PROSet/Wireless 3160 WiFi Driver).

Yes, Verizon FiOS router and have at least 3 other laptops and 4 cell phones all utilizing without any issues.

Run the Diagnostic tool on system to check the hardware on system. Please follow the steps below:

1. Power off system.

2. Power on system, quickly start tapping F12 continuously. In the boot screen, stroll down to Diagnostic and then click on it. After quick test, click Hard Drive, and then Thorough Test Mode. Report any error code.

If there aren't any error codes, I suggest you run the 'Guide Me ' option on your Dell Product Support page. It will automatically update Chipset, Network, and other important drivers on the system. Please follow instructions to run Guide Me option in the Dell video below:

Lastly,

Please type Troubleshooting Control Panel onto the [Cortana] search box, click 'View All', and then run some of the troubleshooting tools.

I also suggest checking and making sure the Network Adapter settings are at maximum. Please right click the windows logo, click Power Options,  'Change Plan Settings', 'Change Advanced Power Settings', and Wireless Adapter Settings.

This is the driver that came with the machine: Intel PROSet/Wireless 3160 WiFi Driver.  I did update this a few nights ago via an Intel tool I downloaded, but am not at the laptop at the moment to identify the new driver.  Does it matter which driver is used as the Intel link provided lists numerous that are compatible with Windows 10?

The driver on the Intel site does show a newer driver than the Dell version.  It would not hurt to try but uninstall the device and all its drivers before installing the new one.

Make sure, if this is your only network adapter available, you have the downloaded Dell version available just in case.

It does say the adapter uses a Win 8.1 driver for Win 10..

If I remember correctly, the Anniversary update started causing problems for internet connections of all types.

If the Wi-Fi card is located where it is easily replaceable, I would recommend updating it.  I have an Inspiron 1545 on which I have updated to a Wireless AC 7260 and it seems to work fine in Win 10.  If the current card has Bluetooth 4.0, then it probably isn't that old but replacing it is something to consider.
