Inspiron 1525 XP Drivers

I'm looking to purchase a new laptop and have settled on the Inspiron 1525, but I do not want Vista at all.  I have an XP Pro disc with a good license key, but I want to know if there are drivers available for the video, sound, network and optical systems.  Anyone have any ideas?

thanks

hi roy,

All the Dell 1520 drivers seem to work on my laptop. So you could just download those drivers, including the webcam driver, the manager of the original vista would work just fine on the XP as well.

http://www.notebook-drivers.com/ViewDownloadUrl.asp?ID=85955&brNum=3&show=0 or just google dell inspiron 1520+creative integrated webcam driver.

hope this solves your problem.

Hey There

Thanks for the help,

I still have a problem, the touchpad is installed and working, but for some reason the scroll (vertical and horizonal) marks on it doesnt do anything, I know it's supposed to scroll.... I installed the hopefully right driver, it seems right on the device manager..

any ideas??

hi roy,

Is the webcam working fine? First you will have to uninstall that touchpad driver and well you could try this link for the touchpad and choose XP as OS

http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&ServiceTag=&SystemID=INS_PNT_PM_1520&os=WLH&osl=en&catid=&impid=

expand the mouse and keyboard link and download and install that driver and hopefully it should work.

Hey there Vikas

Thanks for all your help - the webcam works

I've reinstalled the touchpad driver and software- it's still the same. the touchpad works but the scroll on it doesn't.

Hey Roy, I found that downloading the Vista drivers for the touchpad will actually fix the scrolling issue, believe it or not. I just did it a few minutes ago and the touchpad has been fine since. Just check Dell's page for the driver and install it:

Hope this helps.

Do the hotkeys for adjusting LCD backlight brightness work under XP?

Hey there.

Just got my Inspiron 1525 yesterday.

I was able to install Windows XP after changing the SATA mode to ATA, but now I'd like to turn it back to AHCI and after doing so I cannot boot to XP - I get a BSOD and the machine resets right away.

I've tried to install the iaahci.inf file by right-clicking and choosing Install while in ATA mode, but that doesn't seem to have any effect.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Shahar

Hello Planche,

I'm sorry to contact you like this but my laptop is driving me crazy and you seem like the guy to help me with it :)

I have a dell laptop and my fiance installed windows 7 on it. But my webcam is missing but still works in msn but it can't be located anywhere on my laptop. both my scrolls aren't working on my laptops touch pad and you seem to know what you are talking about and i would much appreciate your help. I'm so sorry to have to bother you but if it was not to much trouble perhaps you could give me a step by step on what i would have to do?

Again i'm sorry to bother you and your help would be greatly apreciated

Hi,

1.  Keep your XP SP2 handy with you for installation.  Start the PC & go to F2 (Bios settings) & change the HDD settings from ACHI to ATA / SATA.

2.  Now, change the settings of booting from HDD to CD ROM drive.  After this, insert CD into the drive.

3.  Now, save the BIOS settings & exit and restart the PC.  During the reboot, the system will ask "press any key to boot from the CD"... just enter... Relax & Enjoy... XP loading starts automatically.

Good luck!
