[inspiron 1720] T5450 -> T7300 upgrade problem

Hi,

I bought an T7300 Core 2 Duo intel processeur in order to replace my "old" T5450.

The T7300 is an 800Mhz FSB so I'm 99% sure it can works. Anyway I took my screwdriver an replaced the processor but it does not work....

When I press the power button the power led goes on for 3 seconds then it goes off and nothing happens. no noise, no fan, nothing.

In the normal way you press power buttonpower led goes on and 1second after hdd led is on and you can hear fan cd drive etc.

I have 2*1Go PC5300 / 667Mhz RAM, 'cause I didn't recevie yet new ram, so can it be RAM fault ?? I thought the laptop could at least boot for a few second.

is there others things to check ? do I have to change FSB jumpers somewhere on the motherboard ???

T5450 voltage range is1.075V-1.175V

T7300 is
 1.0375 - 1.30V

but dell is selling T7300 1720 inspiron so it should work ??

thanks for ur answers !

The CPU should work.  That said, be sure you have the latest BIOS for the system.

thanks for your answer.

the bios was outdated (A04) then I upgraded to latest A09.

Then I changed memory, was 2x1GO PC5300, got 1x2Go PC6400, which is 800mhz, so not a memory problem.

anyway it stills does not work.

any other clue I would miss ??

thanks.

Is the chip a genuine Intel, purchased at retail  -- or an EBay purchase?

What is the S-spec of the CPU (code starting with S stamped into the top of the processor)?

nop this is an ebay purchase, not a brand new.

Also I asked the seller, which seems to be serious, the CPU have been tested before shipping and come from an HP DV9000 ET ...
