Inspiron 4000 - Gaming?

I've got an I4000 with a p3 650 and it will run black and white, but not well enough to make it worth playing. It'll run quake 3 well enough at 800x600, and halflife/counterstrike runs nicely (40fps+) at 1024x768. Generally, newer games will run, but only just, although any 2d game should run just fine. For opengl 3d games your system will be a bit better than mine, but for d3d games its the ati chipset that's doing the damage, so they'll be hardly any difference.

I can run Black and white which is a very demanding game but it does get very choppy at times though definately playable.
Even though the 4000 had decent video capabilities when it was released there are better choices out there now if game playing is your concern.

Why doesn't he just buy a 5100 or a 4150?
