inspiron 4000 - maximum tft panel resolution...
I have an inspiron 4000 running win2000.
At the office i have it connected to an APR, with a monitor attached. At home I use the tft screen and an external mouse.
I have the driver file R54215.EXE installed which is the latest video driver I could find for win2000 in the inspiron 4000 video section.
When connected to the APR I can run a quite nice resolution of 1280x1024 but when using the tft display, every time I choose something other than 1024x768, the resolution appears to stay the same, but the display moves to a different portion of the screen - as if the display centers on another part of the screen, meaning the start menu and half the task bar is off the screen.
Is there a way to have a larger resolution than 1024x768 when using the tft screen?
I realise the inspiron 4000 is an old machine so I think it might be time for an upgrade soon anyway but just wondered if this was possible?
I've seen linux drivers in the video section of the inspiron 4000 drivers page that say in the description that they will display 1280x1024 - anything like that for windows 2000?
Thanks

OK it appears as if there is nothing I can do about it.
The native TFT resolution on my inspiron 4000 is 1024x768.
That's pretty rubbish innit!

Yes, there were SXGA and UXGA 4100's made, i think. But 1024 is what you get on the 4000. Anyways, you couldn't do allot in that high resolution with that wimpy 8mb ATI Rage M3
