Inspiron 5150 doesn´t power on
Help! My Inspiron 5150 won`t turn on. The power cord`s transformer light turns on when plugged in but quickly dies. When we tried plugging in the notebook with a universal powercord the light infront of the notebook that indicates that it`s receiving electricity doesn`t turn on, but I have doubts that the universal cord`s plug size and type was right for my computer. I`m not sure if it`s the powercord or my notebook with the problem.
Thanks in advance

If two adapters fail to work, I suspect your mainboard is the faulty part.

Hi Guys, I have the same problem on my inspiron 5150. It had some difficulties with charger a while ago and I needed to try several times until it accept the AC charger. some times it just reported that it is on battry while it was connected to AC charger! and finally last week it did not accept the AC charger at all. The battry run out of charge and it turn off. Since then any time I try to ture it on , the yellow battery flashes 3 times and nothing happens. I tried other Dell (compatible) AC charger on the laptop but it dose not work, I tried my AC chager on other dell laptops and it works perfectly. So it seems something in the laptop is wrong. I knew this model (inspiron 5150) has several major problems such as shutdown problem and heating problem but I am not sure if something critical happend to the mainboard or it is just faulty AC jack or ...
Please let me know if you have any suggestions/help.

Dell Will not admit it but the Dell Insprion 5150 Has a Major design flaw to where if you put pressure on the back cover marked with the letter C, It breaks an IC Chip Solder point rendering the Laptop useless.

They are incorrect. However, the extended warranty has expired.

If the power LED on the adapter doesn't stay on before you plug in the notebook end, the adapter is bad.
If the LED goes out when you connect the notebook end, the mainboard is bad.

Remove the battery, unplug the system and hold the power button for 30 sec. Remove and reinstall the memory module(s).
Try again - if the system won't power up, it's the system board.
Yes, these systems did run hot but given the advanced age of the system, anything could be wrong.
