Inspiron 6000 Q!?

I have recently purchased a Dell Inspiron 6000. Everytime I start it I get the notification for "found new hardware". The hardware that has been found is NIC1394. The steps that I have taken are:
---The "welcome to the hardware update wizard" screen apears.
---It the prompts me "can windows connect windows update to search for software" I then click yes. then click next
---it then prompts me " the wizard helps you install software for: NIC1394" I then click "install software automatically"
--- below this it states : "if your hardware came with a instalition CD or floppy disk please insert it now" .....

++++ Now this is when my problem gets a little bit hairy my computer came with 4 CD's and none contain any software for NIC1394. The CD's I did recieve were a CD for my wireless card, one for reinstalling the DVD player, one for WordPerfect and one for reinstalling Widows XP.
--- I have tried everything I know how to do on how do resolve this problem, Where can I find this software? and could this be a cause for all the networking problems I am having with my computer which is an entire diffrent story.
 -------------------------------------- Thanks.....

The 1394 refers to your FireWire host controller and its driver is already inbuilt into XP.

Suggest you look in device manager and see if there are any exclamation marks, question marks or error messages and report back with what you find.

Your FireWire connection should not have any bearing on your networking problems.

I checked and there is both a exclamation and a question mark beside the item, and the device stutus states: "This device is not configured correctly. (Code 1)
To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver.es:"  I have tried to reinstall it but i dont have the software to reinstall it or update it, should i try to uninstall it, or try reinstalling windows XP?? thanks.
